CNH's largest painting line in Zedelgem presents a complex challenge: loading must be done carefully to avoid line stops. Various process parameters influence the overall throughput of the installation, requiring an advanced planning approach.
The planning model developed by Atumind, which is currently being implemented, shows with the first simulations that additional capacity can be gained by significantly reducing inefficiencies.
Reduction of downtime, increase in throughput
An intuitive user interface provides a visual representation of the production process. The application of the Atumind planning algorithm clearly leads to a reduction in line stops and an increase in production capacity:

Scenario simulations
The solution uses a digital twin of the production process, so that the impact of any change in process parameters can be accurately simulated.
Real-time staff and order planning
The situation in the workplace is continuously monitored, which the planning algorithm adapts to in real time, for example with incoming rush orders. This has a direct impact on staffing and division of tasks.
Production analysis
The generated production data provides detailed insight for various analyses, such as identifying bottlenecks, evaluating staffing, division of labor and monitoring OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness).
This project illustrates how Atumind takes on innovative challenges that lead to a tangible improvement in the production process. CNH already sees the initial findings as promising.
The same planning tool is now also being tested in other departments to investigate what benefits can be achieved there.
